GLO Teachers: Yoga and Fitness Experience

Elena Cheung: New Glo Movement Specialist

Elena Cheung, a Movement Specialist and Yoga Teacher on Glo

Meet Elena Cheung, one of our four new teachers on Glo this season! We are beyond excited to welcome her to the Glo family. Below, get to know Elena through her letter to the Glo community.

Hellooo, new friends!

Nice to meet you! My name is Elena Cheung, and I’m a yoga teacher brand new on Glo. I am so excited to be here with you!

Here’s a quick (read: non-snooze fest) about me: I’m based out of Seattle, WA, I’m an E-RYT 500 and Yoga Medicine Therapeutic Specialist, and I’ve been teaching classes, working with clients, leading yoga teacher trainings, and hosting retreats since 2015.

My Approach to Yoga

My classes are strongly rooted in anatomy and invite playfulness, curiosity, and introspection. You’ll find me teaching many styles, but one thing always remains the same: I will ask you to do the detailed, internal work! I am sincere with my love for yoga and teaching, but I am not a particularly serious person, which usually means a class that feels focused and thoughtful but lighthearted and non-judgmental.

The Impact of Yoga

My sincere belief (which hasn’t wavered, even with the test of time!) is that authentically engaging with yoga can change the world. Not only is the practice an incredible tool for connecting to self, but it’s also a vehicle for creating change in the world around us. Taking yoga off the mat means practicing kindness, empathy, and a non-judgmental acceptance of the human condition.

Fun Facts About Me

Anywho, now for some fun facts: I have two very cute dogs (Inky often appears in classes and is inarguably the star), I elect to pull weeds by hand no matter how many there are, and I’m obsessed with DnD. Come practice with me and say hey!

See you soon!

Elena Cheung
