Pranayama to Balance the Mind

In this week’s Overheard in Yoga Class, Kia Miller explains that Pranayama is a refining of our energy. “Pran” means first unit, “Yama” is a restraint and “Ayama” is an expansion of. So Pranayama is working with this first unit of energy and expanding it and through that expansion creating a state of vitality and alignment. It’s a great practice for countering the stresses of modern life. It really helps to shift our energy in significant ways so we can manage stress more in our lives.
